Heels and WHAT?!

The 80's have come and gone and so has it's fashion. Lately though we have seen younger generations picking through fashions worst decade and bringing pieces home from the mall. I personally loved the 80's for it's music and movies, but style wise, I'm quite finished with all of it. Okay, okay... not ALL of it. Which leads me into the topic at hand. Did you EVER think that you would wear socks with heels ever again (outside of a Halloween party)??? During the Spring/Summer 2010 runway shows, ankle socks with heels (sandals) were all over the place. I'm telling you this because I bought my first pair of "heel socks" and I wanna say, they're super effing cute! I don't think of it as a revisit to the 80's, I like to think of it more along the lines of "50's European summer".

If you are a fashion forward gal and willing to try this out, here are a few guidelines. Make sure that the socks are thin, and hit just a couple of inches above the ankle (or if you want to wear a pair to the knee, but NOT over it), and really, stay away from all the ruffle and neon colors. Try to keep to neutral colors or white and black. Your best bet is wearing black with black heels, then it comes off looking more like cute little booties. I posted some of what was on the runway for visual guidelines.
Here is a PERFECT example of a tacky 80's throw-back that you should totally (wink) avoid!

So where do you find these little suckers? I've done the work for you...

Cat Eye Sunglasses

So apparently, while doing my usual fashion research, I found that cat eye sunglasses are the latest rage in high fashion this season. Now, being a self proclaimed retro girl I've always loved them, but they were always so hard to find. Unless of course you bought those corny super pointy ones with the plastic crystal thingys on the ends. Those were always way too over the top for me.

I usually don't spend an arm and a leg for my (as I call them) "sunshades", because I always end up scratching them or breaking them. I dunno about some of you, but I don't have an extra $250 laying around each time I sit on my purse. And yes, I could use a case, but they're so HUGE now days and really, the little fabric ones are totally pointless. So I stick with cheapies. After looking at some of whats out there now, I dunno, I may invest and actually try to take care of them! Lets take a look at all the pretty (modernized) cat eye sunshades that are out there right now, shall we?

Fashion For The Guys

Okay, I know I focus on women's fashion, but I do have a past in men's clothing (I worked for an Italian manufacturing company that manufactured for Valentino, Armani, Ungaro, etc.). So I thought I'd do a post that was informative for the guys and fun for the gals!

Guys are always complaining that there just isn't enough diversity in men's' fashion, and I totally agree. Something else that I've heard from guys is, "How come girls can find inexpensive clothing, but all guys clothing is expensive?" So I'm here to not only give you guys an example of a man with GREAT style, but to also introduce you to a couple places that sell guys clothing for reasonable to inexpensive prices.

In my opinion, David Beckham is thee perfect man! Why you ask? Not only is he a fabulous dresser, he always has great hair, he looks good with or without facial hair, he's always very neat, he changes his look and it always fits, he has gorgeous tattoos that work (they aren't a mish mash of crap), he has a beautiful body, he's athletic, he's a fantastic father and husband, he has great taste in cars, annnnd he's rollin' in cash! Oh, and he's British! So here we go with some examples of what I just explained.....

Here are a few stores that are in the area and offer great options for guys at reasonable prices. I did choose pieces that work with David's look...don't be shocked if you like them! HA!
