I'm doing this post, not because I care about maternity clothes for myself (ha ha), but because I have a few girlfriends that are pregnant at the moment, and I wanted to find cute stuff for them.
I'm going to start out by saying that this was difficult. I went to over 20 maternity websites and most of them carried the same boring crap. I was really starting to feel bad for you future mothers out there that like to look good. I didn't want to give up, so eventually I found a couple of sites that have some cute things that I would actually wear, if they weren't maternity wear. The only real complaint I have for this clothing market is that these clothes are so expensive and might only be worn once. I mean you could pass them onto other friends, but what if they're out of style by then? I think if I were pregnant, I would try and get larger clothing for as long as possible, rather than just maternity wear.
Which then leads me into maternity wear etiquette. I know everyone has their own idea of what looks good when they're pregnant, but just like when you are not, some things are just not appropriate. In the beginning you can wear your regular clothing for as long as possible, or until it doesn't fit or is too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that your boobs, belly, and butt will be getting huge regardless if you like it or not. Take the opportunity to go shopping!!! Lately loose and long tops are trendy, so you may be able to go to your favorite shop and find something cute. As for bottoms, you WILL have to invest in a few pair of maternity pants/jeans. They look just like regular jeans so you can feel just as stylish as you were before your belly was invaded, but the only difference is they have a knit section sewn in up top. Please keep in mind that this is NOT part of the style, it is solely for comfort, therefore it should be covered up. Something else, you and your loved ones may think your growing belly is beautiful, but really it isn't something that everyone else wants to see. I can't tell you why society feels this way, but it is what it is, so please keep it covered. I will say, and some may disagree with me, I think it's perfectly fine to show it off at the pool or at the beach. Wear a bikini!!! It may be the only time in your life that you feel beautiful enough to wear one, so do it!
Anyway, I decided that I'm going to pull items to show from just a few sites I liked, and then just list the addresses of the others that weren't that bad. So good luck and have fun ladies! Go for comfort (as well as style) because you will definitely need it.

Yea! Thanks for posting! :)
ReplyDeleteThe photos are great! I wish I can have those in my "during pregnancy" wardrobe, too. Oh, do you happen to know if they sell good belts, too? If they do, I'd ask my husband to go shopping with me. You see, there's this blog where I saw a picture of a pregnant woman wearing a tunic with a belt. The belt looked great with the tunic, so I told myself: I should try it out.
